Big Group on Lake Day
On Sunday, May 22, 2016, a group of divers from all over Arizona joined Toadfish Divers, along with Coral Cactus Scuba and East Valley Family Scuba, for our Lake Day event at Biesemeyer Point in Lake Pleasant. We were a group of about 20, and the lake was quite crowded with campers, boaters and people fishing, but we managed to find a spot along the shore to set up our home base. We broke out into 4 groups, going in different directions of exploration.
The water temperature ranged from 70 degrees at the surface, to 66 degrees at 40 feet. Even though there were lots of divers, the visibility was great for this time of year, ranging from about 15 to 20 feet. We saw plenty of Bass swimming around, although just 1 inch in length. We sat still as they surrounded us. We also had a large Sun Fish follow us on the dive.
During the dive, some divers practiced on their dive skills, in preparation for the Bonaire Trip. Others were working on their Open Water certification or working on the Advance Diver certification. Thanks to those who stayed on shore to keep an eye on home base during the dive.
After the dive, we had hotdogs, hamburgers, chips and brownies! Thanks to everyone for brining out something to share. We sat around, talking about the dive and future trips to Bonaire and San Carlos, Mexico. It was a beautiful day to hang out with friends at the lake.
Thank you to everyone for coming out, and joining us on Lake Day. Hope to see you on another event. Our next Lake Day will be at Lake Mohave on the weekend of June 4 and 5.
Check out the Calendar for events.
